The great adventure knights tournament at Slot Loevestein

On October 26 and 27, sturdy knights on valiant horses battle for victory during the knights' tournament at Slot Loevestein and the fortress transforms into a medieval encampment.

GO ON AN ADVENTURE
This weekend, travel back to the year 1372. Count Albrecht of Bavaria finally has Slot Loevestein in his hands. To celebrate, he invites knights for a knights' tournament. From far and wide, stalwart knights travel to the tournament field. This attracts medieval craftsmen and a large encampment is created around the castle.

PARTICIPATE
Watch the preparations and demonstrations of the knights, dance to the sounds of the troubadour, fight in the knight's school and try your hand at shooting a handbow yourself. Wander through the encampment and experience how they used to live in the Middle Ages. During the spectacular joust, the knights gallop towards each other on their horses and try to break their lance on the opponent, hoping to win the tournament. Choose your favorite knight and encourage him as hard as you can!

THE BEST WAY IS OVER THE WATER
The wind blowing through your hair, the cool castle you see looming in the distance. Make your day out complete and sail from Woudrichem or Gorinchem to Loevestein. Due to expected crowds at parking, we urge you to come by water as much as possible. From Woudrichem the foot ferry sails continuously, from Gorinchem Riveer sails twice a day.

HERFSTVAKANTIE
From Oct. 19 to Nov. 3, it is autumn vacation at Loevestein and there is plenty to do. Explore the fortress and learn musketry, explode gunpowder in the Kruittoren and take an iconic photo in Hugo de Groot's chest.
