Popular talk show host confronts the ghosts in her life

Flanked by Stefan de Walle and Chava voor in 't Holt, Angela Schijf plays Sonja Barend in the new play Sonja, based on Sonja Barend's bestseller Je ziet mij nooit terug. In the play by Vincent van der Valk, we see the queen of the Dutch talk show from a personal perspective. Servé Hermans signed on to direct. Sonja is an ode to conversation and a plea for asking questions.

Live on television. The Rode Hoed full of audience. The opening tune sounds. Sonja has started. Engaged and curious, she starts the interview. At the talk show table she always dares to ask anything, but at the kitchen table Sonja does not get to ask her elderly mother the essential questions. Speaking about the horrific fate of her Jewish father during the war seems impossible. Yet it must be done.

Angela Schijf and Stefan de Walle enjoy great public acclaim and meet in Sonja for the first time in theaters. Director Servé Hermans returns to the large theaters with Sonja after the spectacular musicals Dagboek van een Herdershond and Het was Zondag in het Zuiden.
