Choreographer Jelena Kostić is known for her visually and physically powerful style and performances in which the digs deep into the courage and fallibility of human beings. In "Unease," she explores different forms of human discomfort: physical, mental and social. What do we prefer to look away from? What situations do we prefer to avoid? Why do we place such value on comfort and ease, and what happens when we embrace discomfort instead?
The play begins in the foyer, when you are still having a drink or just walking in. The performers twist themselves into turns and assume uncomfortable poses, only to lead you inside a special setup. In it, the dancers show how welcoming discomfort can actually lead to surprising experiences, growth and new insights. 'Unease' will be an intimate, compelling and thoughtful performance, with influences from psychological thrillers.
