Spring concert by Cossack Ensemble at St. John's on May 26

On Sunday, May 26, the well-known Cossack Ensemble from Rijswijk (South Holland) will provide a fine spring concert in the atmospheric Sint-Jan de Doper of Waalwijk. They are coming to Waalwijk for the third time already. It will be a varied program with songs from the Eastern European liturgy, traditional folk music and Cossack songs. A concert that fits beautifully in the neo-byzantine Sint-Jan. The performance begins at 2:30 p.m. and, as always, admission is free.

Cossack Ensemble
The Cossack Ensemble was founded in 2014 and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The choir consists of 16 highly experienced singers divided into first and second tenors, baritones and low and high basses. The singers meet two to three times a month to rehearse. The repertoire consists of choral music from almost all Eastern European countries. To be heard this afternoon are songs from the Orthodox Slavonic liturgy, which often follow a service in the Ukrainian Byzantine rite. Also on the program are many songs from traditional folk music, and finally, of course, Cossack songs.

The ensemble has soloists in each voice part with whom the songs are enriched. The choir sings exclusively a cappella, which is not always easy. The Cossack Ensemble performs in various locations in churches, theaters, cultural centers and nursing homes, which are also certainly not forgotten. According to listeners, a concert with The Cossack Ensemble is always a joy to experience. The singers therefore do everything possible to continue that good reputation.

Everyone who loves beautiful and surprising choral music is welcome to attend this beautiful and varied concert in the Sint Jan on Sunday, May 26. It is organized by the Friends of Sint Jan de Doper. As always, admission is free and a voluntary contribution will be asked for after the concert. The concert starts at 2:30 p.m. and the doors will be open for you from 2 p.m. onwards. During the intermission there will be an opportunity to have a cup of coffee or tea and catch up.
