Longstreet Liberty Proms Concert
Also in the municipality of Heusden we stand still for '80 Years of Freedom'. Freedom, which began in our present municipality of Heusden on November 4 and 5, 1944, but in which there was hardly any question of living in freedom until May 5, 1945.
With a unique and atmospheric theater performance, where stories, images and music reinforce each other, memories of this period are made visible and audible.

The stories and images are collected and presented by Heemkundekring Onsenoort. With their knowledge of our local history they will present a variety of recognizable yet mostly unknown occurrences.

These stories will be complemented by appropriate music. Music, which will be performed instrumentally by a large orchestra and vocally by singers. The orchestra is a collaboration of Harmonie St. Cecilia (Haarsteeg), Fanfare Eendracht maakt Macht (Elshout) and Harmonie de Eendragt (Nieuwkuijk). Music, among others, by Glenn Milller and Vera Lynn, trying to keep up the morale of the troops, or the sensitive Hymn to the Fallen (from Saving Private Ryan).

There are two identical performances. One on Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2025, and one on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 2. It promises to be a recognizable and empathetic performance from and about our own environment.

The performance is appropriate for everyone ages 12 and up.
