Summer vacation full of knights at Slot Loevestein

This summer is all about the Middle Ages. From the moment you walk through the entrance gate, you imagine yourself in another time full of adventure. Dive into history at the place where it really happened.

Listen to stories about the earliest inhabitant, knight Dirc Loef van Horne. Wander through medieval encampments, learn archery from the castle archer, play old Dutch games and compete in the knight and damsel games.

Games of chivalry and nobility
Do you want to become a real knight or damsel? Take up the challenge and brave the Loevestein Knight and Lady games! Come dressed as a brave knight, tough damsel, or just as yourself and experience the knight's trail. Do you have it in you? Are you strong enough? Do you stay balanced? Are you the fastest knight on the hobby horse? Take part in the tough games and show that you are a brave knight or tough damsel. For children from 3 to 9 years old.

Tough stories
Knight Dirc has taken measures during construction to keep the enemy out. But then things go wrong! Big round stones fly through the air and hit a square tower. How that ends? You'll hear about it in the summer holiday story.

Medieval encampments
Wander through the encampments and discover the daily life of the medieval inhabitants. Be amazed and surprised by the medieval atmosphere in the fortress. Learn how people used to live, how they fought and learn about medieval courtesy. A special experience for young and old. July 20 - 24, July 27 and 28 and August 17 and 18.

Castle Shooter
Do you know what weapons hung from the weapons rack in medieval times? And how were they used? How far do you actually shoot with such a medieval bow? Come ask the castle archers. Knight School
New knights beware! Come test your weapon skills in the knight's school. Discover the art of swordsmanship and learn to ride like a true knight.
