In Mufasa: The Lion King, Rafiki tells the legend of Mufasa to the young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala.

In doing so, he is supported in his own way by Timon and Pumbaa. The story is told in flashbacks and introduces Mufasa as an orphan. He is lost, lonely and alone.... until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. This chance meeting sets in motion a great adventure of two misfits searching for their destiny. Their friendship is put to the test when they must work together to defeat a menacing and deadly enemy.
