Wishing Tree in Fortress City of Heusden

The coziest Christmas shopping event(Candlelight Shopping) is on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14 in fortified Heusden from 3 to 10 p.m. Entrepreneurs, volunteers and Protestant Church Heusden are joining forces to make a mega-sized wishing and remembrance tree possible!

For the 19th time, on December 13 and on Saturday, December 14, 2024, something wonderful will again take place in the beautiful setting of Heusden Vesting. Last year's Candlelight was an unprecedented success! With a cocktail of many sponsors, an abundance of volunteers and extras who worked tirelessly, top entertainment and music, the coziest stalls, stores and restaurants open until late and even the weather cooperating, it became a great event. Once again, all stops will be pulled out this year.

New this year is a mega-sized wishing and remembrance tree. It will be placed at Vismarkt on December 6. Two volunteers, Marisa Geukes and Stan Pompen, want to collect for this great cause. In October/November they will come by with a collection box. Here you as a resident can scan the QR code or make a contribution. With the collection money we are going to fulfill achievable wishes this year. A beautiful endeavor embraced by the organization of Candlelight and the Protestant Municipality of Heusden. Our goal is to fulfill 6 wishes. All contributions are more than welcome.

How do you submit a wish? The ground rules are as follows. Starting November 1, the following number is operational: 06 13074016. Via app or text message, submit your achievable wish. That may be for someone else or yourself. From November 1 there are at the stores and catering (members of the Entrepreneurs Association Heusden) and Tourist Information Point, flat wooden baubles. A wish or memory may be written on them with a marker. These baubles will be collected and hung in the tree on December 6. Of course, you can also do this yourself from December 6. Do you hang the wish in the tree yourself? Then also take a picture of this wish and send this clear picture also to the above number.

The Heusden Protestant Church centers these wishes and makes a selection together with the Heusden Business Association. Only feasible wishes that have also been submitted via the telephone number will be evaluated. On Saturday evening, December 14, during Candlelight, it will be announced which wishes will be granted.

The retailers and hospitality industry will make it something special again this year. That is exactly the idea behind Candlelight Shopping Heusden. It's giving something back to our customers and our guests as a thank you for their visits to our town, stores and hospitality industry. The organizers are proud to see how business owners, residents, sponsors and volunteers cooperate fully. Without this cooperation, such a great event could not take place.
