Jacques Brel brought to life with total dedication
In 1978, the world lost one of its most passionate inhabitants: Jacques Brel, the Belgian troubadour who warmed so many hearts and set halls ablaze with such songs as "Ne me quitte pas," "Marieke," "Le Plat Pays," "Amsterdam" and "Les Flamandes.
It has been almost 50 years since the legend died, but compatriot Filip Jordens is bringing him back to life. Then you have to be able to do a lot, and he can. Together with his four musicians, he performs a masterful ode: "With his fluttering hands, his long arms sometimes limp along the lanky skinny boy's body, his dancing legs and his expressive vocal inflections, Filip Jordens evokes the image of Brel with total devotion. (...) Amazingly skilled." (NRC)

'The sound and intonation of the voice is as similar as Brel's. The energy with which Jordens performs one chanson after another is top not only in singing but also in performance. Every little detail has been thought of. You do not need to speak French, the body language of Jordens speaks volumes. Every emotion comes alive through this fantastic artist. He does not play Brel, he ís Brel. - Theaterparadijs.nl ★★★★

The press about Filip Jordens:
His 'Hommage à Brel' is exactly what the title promises: a tribute. And you don't pay tribute to a mind as idiosyncratic as Brel by blindly imitating him. Jordens has his own vision of Brel.' - Het Parool
'Jordens does not try to break through the songs with stubborn arrogance. He leaves the maker and the product in its value. That's what you call an homage. That's what you come for and that's what you get to hear from a formidable theater personality. Filip Jordens is as unique as Jacques Brel.' - Dagblad van het Noorden
'Generous and with love and passion.' - The Telegraph
