Attention stone - Besoijen town hall
Besoijen town hall (1868-1921)
In 1866, such repairs proved necessary to the council chamber, located in the consistory room of the "White Church," that the municipal administration decided to build a council house. In 1868, the Lord of Besoÿen donated pastures in the middle of the village, and the new town hall was inaugurated at the end of 1868. In 1906, a field watchman's house was added. The left memorial stone in the front yard shows the old municipal coat of arms, derived from the family coat of arms of the "Geslacht van Besoÿen": blue field with golden yellow crossbar containing four azure peas and three golden yellow andreas crosses. The right shield shows the Dutch tricolor and "Besoijen 1921." After the amalgamation of Baardwijk, Besoijen and Waalwijk on January 1, 1922, the town hall was converted into a residence.
