Kaaie Paole
The Kaaie Paole, also known as the Veense Palen, mark the border between the Land of Heusden and the Land of Altena. These two special posts, which stand on the border of Veen and Andel, are national monuments and date from 1798. On the right pole you see the coat of arms with the wheel of the Land of Heusden, and on the left pole the coat of arms of the Land of Altena with two salmon and the inscription 'Old Land of Altena'. This marker also indicates the medieval border between Holland and Brabant.
