Liberation, monument 1940-1945
The man of bronze pushes apart two steel plates, forming the letter V. The V of Freedom, Peace, Victory and Resistance. With difficulty, the man manages to keep the plates apart: Peace and Freedom are always under pressure, under tension. In 1984 the statue was unveiled by Prince Bernhard and now the May 4 commemoration is held there.
