5176 The Nut
Walk through a small pearl in the Heart of Brabant: estate Huis ter Heide. Not a large area, but that does not diminish its beauty. Walk
through the area of the Scottish Highlanders, which you often see around the fens. In the summer they seek cooling here. It is beautifully visible from
the high vantage point at node 66. You can also find frogs, dragonflies and storks in the area, which gather especially during migration in August. View the wet fens from the dirt trail, walk across the water via the Vlonderpad, or view the beautiful area from one of the lookout towers. The Vlonderpad is flooded during very high water and mostly on dry land during long dry times.
Tip: finish the walk with some treats at one of the stopping points. Want to see more of the area? Then follow the additional nodes 10 and 67 (larger round around fen) and/or extend the route with one of the others.
