Canal Walk Heusden

55 minutes (4.6 km)

Explore the moats of the fortified town of Heusden. Heusden grew up around one of the oldest moated castles in northwestern Europe and was one of the first Dutch towns to receive a city wall. Thanks to restorations, much of the old Heusden can still be admired.

Heusden originated around 1200 at the fortress of the Heeren van Heusden. Strategically located on the Meuse River, the fortress was an important link between the Biesbosch and 's-Hertogenbosch. For tourist information, visit TIP Heusden.
