That means that five days a week here you are welcomed passionately and hospitably in a more than friendly atmosphere. Here you will learn all about tanning in the Dongen region in the 18th and 19th centuries. But The Tannery also displays a historical collection about the village, plus a number of annually changing shows.
Come experience how a previous visitor discovered "A treasure trove of materials and stories" here. Also very convenient if you want to spend a whole day in Dongen. The enthusiastic team is happy to put together - on request - a complete "Dongen program" for you.

Wednesday to Sunday afternoons
Visit our exhibitions individually with a (free) audio guide or QR route, or book a group tour or walk. At a learning workshop you can literally roll up your sleeves, while enjoying a snack and drink in the cozy museum café and terrace. The Tannery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
If you want a fully-filled day, combine your visit with one of the many recreational activities in Dongen. Go a little further back in history during a visit to the Iron Age Farm. Or go play with the kids at Pukkemuk. In addition to a learning workshop, fancy even more creativity? Then book a morning or afternoon at 2Handjes.

Dongen and surroundings
Dongen is located in beautiful, green surroundings, which you can explore on foot or by bicycle. The museum staff are happy to give tips and have various (local) contacts. Thematically, a visit to the Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk is fitting, but De Looierij also receives many bicycle tourists. For example, as a stop during a trip through and along the beautiful National Park De Loonse en Drunense Duinen.
