Faunapassage
This location is part of the "Flora & Fauna in Pauwels" cycling route.
Large, round tubes have been installed under the N261 at a number of locations. These are so-called fauna passages through which, just like the Westloonse Wissel, animals can safely cross the road. The tubes are only used by animals that are not afraid of the dark, such as badgers, polecats and stone martens. Other animals such as deer, butterflies, reptiles, toads and frogs will not use the tubes. Hence, the Westloonse Wissel was also constructed, which is suitable for all animal species. The photo shows a badger.
