The Fire
The Brand is a natural area consisting of wet grasslands and coppice forests. It owes its name to the fuel that people used to extract here: peat on a small scale, but of course firewood was also gathered. Medicinal leeches and crested newts are some of the unusual species you can find here.

Nature reserve Leemkuilen was created by digging clay to make bricks. Now it is a wetland and marsh area, where plants such as creeping water plantain and marsh helleborine grow. Birdwatchers are also well catered for here; there is a special bird-watching screen.

North Woods
North Woods
On the north side of Tilburg you will find the Noorderbos. This forest grows on a unique subsoil. In the early 1990s, the first trees of the Noorderbos were planted. This young forest already has surprisingly many natural values, where birds like the buzzard and the hawk nest and several species of bats find shelter. In 2018, the forest received a major refurbishment. The paths are good to use even in wet periods and benches have been placed to take a rest.

Landgoed Huis ter Heide, located between Loon op Zand and De Moer, is a hidden gem. You can go for lovely walks in this watery bird paradise, while admiring the noisy frogs and colorful dragonflies. You can also come face to face with Scottish Highlanders, who continue to feed imperturbably. You won't get any closer to nature than this. There are beautiful hiking trails in the area, ranging from 4.5 to 8 kilometers.

Natuurpoort manege Van Loon in Loon op Zand and Herberg De Drie Linden in Giersbergen are a great starting point to discover nature.
