Proverbial route - rampart with cannons
YOUR MANNETY STAND
You see quite a few cannons in Heusden. Those cannons don't work now, of course, but they used to protect the town!
Very long ago Heusden had a city wall, but around 1580 people realized that walls alone were not a good defense against the increasingly heavy weapons used by the enemy. The Prince of Orange commissioned the most famous engineer of the time, Adriaen Anthonisz van Alkmaer, to make Heusden safer. There came ramparts (you're standing on them now!), moats, bastions and ravelins. As a result, Heusden came to be known as an impregnable city. Heusden stood its ground!
Brave
Standing your ground means standing your ground against someone. That you are brave and not afraid. Like the soldiers in the old days who protected the city!
All guns!
