Saint Gertrudis
Gertrudis is almost always depicted with mice on her staff because she is the patroness of the peasants. She tried to keep them safe from rats and mice. She is also the patron saint of seafarers. Hence, she is depicted here standing in a boat. St. Gertrudis is the foundress of Geertruidenberg and we owe the name Geertruidenberg to her: The mountain of St. Geertrui.
