The New Cow Gate
This work of art was created in 1997 on the occasion of the removal of the independence of the former municipality of Geertruidenberg. The design of the gate was inspired by the landing of a large, spherical ball in the city canal, creating a relief-like play of lines in the water. The two half-spheres that form the handles symbolize the old municipality of Raamsdonk and Geertruidenberg. They form one whole, but retain their own identity. The left column bears the date 1213, the year Geertruidenberg received city rights, and the right column bears the infinity sign.
