Port Barracks (The Treasure Line)
Around 1786, on the site of the houses of the breweries "De Bel," "Den Ancker" and "De Posthoorn," a new residence in Louis XVI style was built by Thomas Schattelijn. In 1809, King Louis Napoleon stayed here as a guest of the city. In 1833, the War Department bought the complex, which became barracks and military hospital. After 1920, the building has various uses and in the 1980s the municipality buys the dilapidated building. Only the brewery "De Bel" survived, "De Posthoorn" was destroyed by fire in 1934. After restoration, it gets a cultural destination in 1989: "The Schattelijn".
