William of Orange built the 'Groot- en Klein Prinsenhof' here in 1575. In 1820 Jan Baptist Allard buys the 'Klein Prinsenhof', after which it is owned by his widow Maria Anna Adriana Brouwers until 1888, and from 1888 to 1899 by their son Johannes Ph. N. F. Allard, priest and rector of the St. Agnes convent, located on the Venestraat. In 1888, in order to have a view of the surroundings, Rector Allard built in the garden of the "Klein Prinsenhof" a lookout tower on a brick pedestal, to which he himself added the ceramic decoration. The cast-iron turret is provided with a new copper roof and now belongs to the 'small monuments' of Geertruidenberg.
