Former post office
contact
In the second half of the 19th century, the post office is located on the other side of the street, strategically along the Breda-Gorinchem postal route. The Post and Telegraph Office soon became too small. Coincidentally, the "Huis ten Deijl" located across the street burns down. The land is sold publicly to the Post Office. On December 24, 1908, the new post office is inaugurated. The post office was designed by the government architect in the so-called chalet style. This style comes into vogue around 1900 and is based on Swiss chalet construction, with characteristic details such as overhanging roofs, lots of woodwork and the so-called half-timbering.
