Welcome to the De Langstraat. The enormously versatile region containing municipalities of Waalwijk, Loon op Zand and Heusden. Here you can easily entertain yourself for 48 hours or more! Whether you love gastronomy, architecture, culture or nature. Region De Langstraat is the destination for it all. What are you all going to do?

Begin your adventure, for example, by exploring beautiful natural areas. Take a leisurely walk or bike ride through National Park De Loonse en Drunense Duinen, where you can discover endless sand drifts and vast forests. This unique landscape offers not only tranquility and space, but also numerous opportunities for active recreation such as mountain biking or horseback riding. Or visit Landgoed Huis ter Heide and go in search of the beautiful Scottish Highlanders who roam freely there and are allowed to enjoy the forest and water themselves.

After your nature adventure, immerse yourself in the rich history and architecture of De Langstraat. Enjoy the architectural delights in Waalwijk . In one of these buildings in Waalwijk you will find theSchoenenkwartier: museum, manufacturing lab and knowledge center. Or visit historic Heusden, with its cozy, narrow streets, well-preserved fortifications and a charming mix of galleries, antique stores and cozy cafes. You can also venture beyond the borders of our region by visiting Kasteel Ammersoyen: one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the Netherlands. Here you will discover unique stories, archaeological finds and more.

If you like really good and tasty food, De Langstraat is the place to be. The region offers a wide range of eateries. From cozy brasseries to sophisticated restaurants where you can enjoy (local) specialties and regional products. These regional products are also available directly from several farmers in the farm store, so you can make your own culinary delights with them. Gastronomy with an authentic taste experience: you will also find that in Heusden, Drunen, Nieuwkuijk, Waalwijk, Sprang-Capelle, Waspik, Kaatsheuvel, Loon op Zand and De Moer.

Still in the mood for an evening out? Enjoy a wonderful evening of culture: musical, humorous and moving performances in one of De Langstraat's theaters. Spread your chances in the casino, play games in the game hall, throw a ball on the bowling alley, let yourself go with karaoke or choose one of the many activities on the agenda .

Divergent activities

What is not an option in this region is boring yourself. There is always something for everyone to do here. It is bursting with activities. Choose something fun and get out and about!

For hiking and biking enthusiasts, there are numerous hiking and biking routes that take you through picturesque landscapes, beautiful nature and historic villages. The routes range from leisurely walks of a few kilometers to challenging bike rides that will take you a day. There are special walking routes for children, such as the proverb routes or treasure hunt in Heusden. Or how about a special themed bike route or mountain bike route in this bike wahlalla? There is something for everyone.

Would you like to discover the region in a different way? Then choose an interesting tour through Heusden Vesting, Waalwijk or a specific building such as the Sint Jan de Doperkerk, for example. These tours offer fascinating insights into the rich history and culture of De Langstraat.

Did you know that our region is located on the Meuse River? From Heusden you can get right on the water! Explore the area by boat, canoe or SUP. Are you by boat? Then you can moor at one of the marinas in or near Heusden.

The culture lover can enjoy the various museums, such as the Schoenenkwartier: museum, manufacturing lab and knowledge center, where you can learn all about the history, present and future of shoes and leather. Whether you are a history buff, love architecture or are just looking for a quiet and inspiring place: the Gouverneurshuis (1592) welcomes you. This jewel of a museum can be found in the heart of the picturesque fortified town of Heusden.

Of course, a visit to De Langstraat is not complete without shopping. The cozy stores and boutiques offer a wide range of products, from fashion and accessories to local specialties and crafts. There is even a complete furniture and kitchen boulevard in Waalwijk and Kaatsheuvel.

Between activities, don't forget to visit one of the cozy eateries, where you can enjoy delicious food, a drink or a coffee/tea.
